Vanilla Slice

Basically just custard with pastry and icing on top

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pasty

  • 2/3 cup caster sugar

  • 2/3 cup custard powder

  • 4 cups milk

  • 4 tsp vanilla essence

  • 300ml thickened cream

  • 1 cup icing sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • some hot water

Directions

  • Prick puff pasty with a fork and bake for 10-15 minutes at 220C

  • Make the custard with caster sugar custard powder milk vanilla essence

  • Let everything cool slightly

  • Beat thickened cream and add to custard

  • Place in a square tin, pastry, custard, pastry

  • Make icing with icing sugar vanilla hot water and put on top

  • Put in the frige to set
